The Great Cap Revival

Lockdown has seen a renewed love for the cap, becoming the latest fashion revival hiding a whole host of sins of root regrowth and mullets!

April 12th can’t come quick enough for most of us awaiting with great anticipation the re-opening of our favourite barber and hairdressing salons.

Unfortunately, for most, the long list of pre-bookers means we may be sporting mop tops and emerging greys for a while longer.

Therefore, hail the cap!

Cap sales are up 85% according to global search platform Lyst, with logo, branded caps occupying the majority of sales.

Neutral shades such as camel are proving the most popular.

Celine Heidi Slimane has stimulated the cap revival, featuring them styled with every look for his S/S 21 collection.

Long worn by celebrities such as Princess Diana and Victoria Beckham, the baseball cap is both a strategic addition to going covert (bad hair days!) and a sports fashion item.

But can you spot your 5 Panel from your Ball Cap?

There are in fact 6 different types of cap varying from constructed/unconstructed caps, fitted hats, flex-fits, or adjustable hats.

Ball cap: Mid crown, Medium Depth, Fits most head sizes.

5 Panel: Modern Low Crown fit.

Shallow: Low Profile crown, Shallow Depth. Fits smaller head sizes.

Medium: Mid Crown, Medium Depth, fits Small to Average heads.

Full: High crown, Full Depth, Fits Average.

High: High Crown, Classic Trucker Fit, Fits larger heads.

Then there’s your peaks…sandwich, regular, flat brimmed, eclipse.

And then your back clasps…fitted, metal, Velcro…

Luckily, we love a cap or two ourselves and happen to have our own embroidery machine to emblazon your own design on the new cap trend!
